How to send automated triggered email campaigns with Snov.io
With Snov.io Email Drip Campaigns tool you can create automated, multi-sequence, triggered email campaigns. This will save you a lot of time by automating follow-ups, as well as offer detailed analysis of every campaign, helping group your leads by their place in the sales funnel.
Creating a campaign is pretty simple. Follow these steps:
1. Find the Campaigns feature in the top menu
This will take you to the Campaigns page where you will be able to find all your future campaigns.
2. Click on the New Drip Campaign button
You will be taken to the Campaign creation window. Start by filling in the details of the campaign on the left.
3. Set the name of the campaign
It will be displayed in your Campaigns list. Your addressees won’t see it.
4. Choose an email account for sending
If you have not yet chosen an email for sending the campaign, you can still save your campaign without launching it.
However, to launch a campaign you must add a valid email account.
5. Choose recipient options
To improve deliverability, we offer a couple of options for campaign recipients.
In case a prospect has several available emails, you can choose to send a campaign to all emails, or only to their primary email. You can also exclude unverified and/or catch-all emails.
6. Create the steps of your campaign
Start is an unchangeable first step of every campaign. Through it you can choose the list of campaign recipients from your available prospect lists.
Click on the click to edit element (1) and select one of your lists in the drop-down menu (2).
Note: The campaign will be started for all prospects on the list, those added before the start of the campaign and all those who will be added in the future, as long as the campaign is active. You can look through the list of campaign recipients and disable the campaign for specific email addresses.
After the Start step, you can add four types of elements to build your Campaign: Email, Trigger, Delay and Goal.
Snov.io email drip campaign builder uses a drag-and-drop model: just click on the element you need to add as a step and drag it into the campaign creation area, then connect the steps by dragging a line between them.
Emails are the most crucial part of your campaign. Here's how to add them to the email sequence.
First, drag the email element into the campaign building field.
Next, click on the element. You will see a window open on the right (can be opened further a more comfortable experience) where you can paste your message.
For personalization, you can add variables to the subject line.
You can also add variables to the email body.
Note: If you add user attributes to your message but the data isn’t available, a blank space will be added instead of the variable.
You can also add trackable links. To do this, click on the link icon in the menu and add your link.
Note: If you copy-paste your link into the message, it will not be tracked. Make sure you use the link icon in the menu.
This is the element that makes automated campaigns interactive and multiple sequence scenarios possible. Triggers determine the next step in the automation flow by tracking email opens and link clicks.
There are currently 2 types of triggers:
- Contact opened the email.
- Contact clicked on the link in the email.
When the addressee performs the action you’ve set as a trigger, the system activates the next step.
To improve email deliverability, link tracking is set to disabled by default. You can read why here. Note that activating this feature may negatively affect your email deliverability. You can change these settings at any moment, even for an active campaign.
However, to use the trigger Contact clicked on the link from email, you need to activate the link tracking feature. To do this, click the checkbox when creating a campaign. Even if the campaign has already been launched (i.e. is active), you can activate/deactivate link tracking.
Note: When you change the settings for link clicks tracking, they will be applied only to emails sent after this change. For the previously sent emails, link tracking will not be disabled.
You can specify the Goal of every sequence and track how many of your prospects achieve it. Just name your goal and in the statistics you will see how many times it has been reached.
As soon as the goal is reached, the campaign stops for that recipient and they are sent no further emails in this automation flow.
You can set the Delay between your follow-ups, if you want to send emails one by one with an exact time delay between emails, regardless of recipients' actions.

Note: If you leave the Campaign creation window without saving the changes to your campaign, the latest draft of the campaign will be automatically saved. When opening the Campaign creation window next time, you will be offered to restore the campaign draft with the latest changes.
7. Start your campaign
Start your campaign by clicking Save & Start.
If everything is set correctly, you will see your Campaign as Active in your Campaigns List.
8. Edit your campaign
To edit an active campaign, please pause it first in the Campaigns tab. After all the edits are done, you can resume the campaign by pressing the Save & Start button.
9. Monitor campaign status through notifications
If the email account you’ve chosen for sending the campaign becomes invalid for any reason, your campaign will be paused and you will receive an email notification. Once the problem is fixed, you will be able to resume the campaign.
