{"id":12552,"date":"2022-11-11T11:44:41","date_gmt":"2022-11-11T08:44:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/snov.io\/knowledgebase\/?p=12552"},"modified":"2026-02-18T12:14:04","modified_gmt":"2026-02-18T09:14:04","slug":"how-to-edit-your-drip-campaign","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/snov.io\/knowledgebase\/how-to-edit-your-drip-campaign\/","title":{"rendered":"How to edit an active email campaign"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After you\u2019ve created and launched your campaign, you may want to make adjustments to your email content or campaign settings to optimize its performance.<\/p>\n<p><em>Below you'll learn in detail about what is allowed to edit in your campaign mid-way through and what its't.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<h2><strong>What you can edit in an ongoing campaign<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After pausing an ongoing active campaign, <strong>you can edit the following elements<\/strong>:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Email contents<\/strong>: you can change a subject line, email appearance and text, add or remove images\/attachments\/links\/<a href=\"https:\/\/snov.io\/knowledgebase\/how-to-add-variables-to-emails\/\">email variables<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Email sequence<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>A\/B testing<\/strong>: you can add, edit, or pause email variants.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Trigger<\/strong>: you can change the condition for a trigger. Learn how triggers work <a href=\"https:\/\/snov.io\/knowledgebase\/how-triggers-work-in-drip-campaigns\/\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Delay<\/strong>: you can change the waiting time between sequence emails.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Add elements at the end of the sequence<\/strong>: you can add new elements after the last element to extend your sequence.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>After you add a new element after the last element, recipients who have completed the sequence will receive a new element.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Please note: <\/strong>adding new elements in-between of the sequence or deleting the last elements to replace them with others isn't recommended as it may break your sequence flow.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sender account<\/strong>: you can change the email account attached to a campaign.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Please note: <\/strong>after changing the sender account, replies to emails sent from previous sender account won't be detected.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Campaign schedule<\/strong>: y<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ou can <a href=\"https:\/\/snov.io\/knowledgebase\/how-to-schedule-your-drip-campaign\/\">change the timeframe<\/a> for sending your campaign emails.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Tracking settings<\/strong>: you can enable or disable open and link tracking.<\/p>\n<p><b>Please note<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: If you disable link or open tracking, conditional triggers in your sequence will resolve to a <strong>No<\/strong> path by default<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Missing variable scenario<\/strong>: you can change how the campaign will act if your prospect is missing variable information.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Choose the <\/span><b>Send it to the To check list<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> option to manually add missing data.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0Or select the <\/span><b>Send campaign anyway<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> option to use a fallback instead of a missing data.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>What you cannot edit in an ongoing campaign<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>In an ongoing active campaign, <strong>you cannot edit the following parts<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>recipient list<\/strong>: it's not possible to change a prospect list in an active campaign. If a new prospect is added to the recipient list, the email campaign for the prospect will begin from the first email.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Do not send to unverified or unverifiable emails<\/strong>: it's not possible to enable or disable this option after starting a campaign.<\/li>\n<li><strong>delete sequence elements<\/strong> (Email, Delay, Trigger) which contain active recipients: sequence elements that have already reached your recipients should not be deleted.<\/li>\n<li><strong>change order of sequence elements<\/strong>: m<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">aintain sequence flow by letting it run in the order you originally designed it<\/span>. Create a new campaign if you want to change the order of emails.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Make sure to click the <strong>Save<\/strong> button after making changes. All changes in different parts of the campaign will be applied to all future emails after saving and resuming it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>To edit your active campaign:<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 18pt;\"><strong>Pause your active campaign<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can edit your active campaign only if it\u2019s paused.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Go to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/app.snov.io\/campaigns#\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Campaigns<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> page<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click the campaign you want to edit<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click the <\/span><b>Edit <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">icon<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click <\/span><b>Yes <\/b>in the pop-up window to confirm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The other way to pause your campaign is to:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click the three dots menu next to a campaign (1)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Select <\/span><b>Pause campaign<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Choose the <\/span><b>Edit <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">option<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">Reactivate the campaign<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once you finish editing your campaign, review the changes you've made and click <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the <\/span><b>Start <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">button to reactivate it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>Have more questions?
