If the page loads, then your domain is set up correctly. If it doesn\u2019t, then there\u2019s an issue with your setup.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"notification-block learn\">\n<div class=\"notification-block__icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/snov.io\/knowledgebase\/wp-content\/themes\/knowledgebase-n\/assets\/img\/fluent_chat-warning-16-regular.svg\" alt=\"learn\" width=\"32\" height=\"32\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"notification-block__text\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To check if your SSL certificate works, open tracking domain URL from your <a href=\"https:\/\/app.snov.io\/account\/email-account\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">email account settings<\/a> in a browser. Use the format <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/tracking-domain-url\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">https:\/\/tracking-domain-URL<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><b>Check DNS:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Use any online DNS checker to verify your tracking domain. If all areas show green, then your domain is configured correctly. If they show red, then there\u2019s a problem with your setup.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"notification-block tip\">\n<div class=\"notification-block__icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/snov.io\/knowledgebase\/wp-content\/themes\/knowledgebase-n\/assets\/img\/academicons_ideas-repec.svg\" alt=\"tip\" width=\"32\" height=\"32\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"notification-block__text\">\n<p data-start=\"230\" data-end=\"335\">Make sure your DNS and CNAME records are configured correctly\u2014if not, open and click tracking may fail.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Below are the possible issues and how to fix them.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Issue: Tracked links use HTTP<\/strong><\/h3>\n<div class=\"notification-block note-gray\">\n<div class=\"notification-block__text\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If the tracking domain URL has a format issue or the domain contains a CAA specification \u2192 Snov.io couldn\u2019t generate the SSL certificate \u2192 your links use HTTP.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>If tracked links in previously sent emails don\u2019t load or use <strong data-start=\"138\" data-end=\"146\">http<\/strong> instead of <strong data-start=\"158\" data-end=\"167\">https<\/strong>, it means the tracking domain isn\u2019t working correctly and Snov.io couldn\u2019t generate an SSL certificate for it.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Without SSL, a custom tracking domain can\u2019t use <em>https<\/em> to improve deliverability.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"notification-block learn\">\n<div class=\"notification-block__icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/snov.io\/knowledgebase\/wp-content\/themes\/knowledgebase-n\/assets\/img\/fluent_chat-warning-16-regular.svg\" alt=\"learn\" width=\"32\" height=\"32\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"notification-block__text\">\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Reason 1:<\/strong> Your tracking domain URL contained an underscore (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">track._domain.com), <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">which caused an error during SSL generation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Fix:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Check your tracking URL in CNAME record and make sure the format is correct. Remove any extra symbols if the address contains them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Re-add the correct URL <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/app.snov.io\/account\/email-account\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in the email account settings<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. We\u2019ll verify it and automatically generate the SSL certificate.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you have multiple senders that use the same tracking domain, you can edit them all at once using <strong>bulk-editing feature<\/strong>. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Select the accounts that need adjustment and click <\/span><b>Edit.<\/b><\/p>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-42189 wp-block-image shadow\" src=\"https:\/\/snov.io\/knowledgebase\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/unnamed-7.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1600\" height=\"807\" srcset=\"https:\/\/snov.io\/knowledgebase\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/unnamed-7.png 1600w, https:\/\/snov.io\/knowledgebase\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/unnamed-7-300x151.png 300w, https:\/\/snov.io\/knowledgebase\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/unnamed-7-1024x516.png 1024w, https:\/\/snov.io\/knowledgebase\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/unnamed-7-768x387.png 768w, https:\/\/snov.io\/knowledgebase\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/unnamed-7-1536x775.png 1536w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1600px) 100vw, 1600px\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"notification-block learn\">\n<div class=\"notification-block__icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/snov.io\/knowledgebase\/wp-content\/themes\/knowledgebase-n\/assets\/img\/fluent_chat-warning-16-regular.svg\" alt=\"learn\" width=\"32\" height=\"32\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"notification-block__text\">\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Reason 2:<\/strong> The domain on which the CNAME was created also has a <\/span><b>CAA record<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that specifies which authorities can issue SSL certificates for it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Fix: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Go to your domain\u2019s DNS and check the CAA record. If it exists, create a new one to include <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Snov.io<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2019s SSL provider. Multiple CAA records can coexist on the same domain.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In CAA record, add this value: <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CAA 0 issue \"<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">sectigo.com<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\". <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This ensures Snovio is allowed to issue a certificate for your custom tracking domain.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wait for DNS propagation (24\u201348 hours). Then re-add your tracking domain in Snov.io.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Issue: Tracked links from emails don\u2019t load<\/strong><\/h3>\n<div class=\"notification-block note-gray\">\n<div class=\"notification-block__text\">If <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CNAME record was deleted or modified \u2192 <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/snov.io\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Snov.io<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> couldn\u2019t recognize your tracking URL and generate SSL<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Reason:<\/strong> If the CNAME record for the tracking domain you added to Snov.io is removed from your domain, the custom tracking domain will stop working.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"notification-block learn\">\n<div class=\"notification-block__icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/snov.io\/knowledgebase\/wp-content\/themes\/knowledgebase-n\/assets\/img\/fluent_chat-warning-16-regular.svg\" alt=\"learn\" width=\"32\" height=\"32\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"notification-block__text\"><b>Fix:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Open your domain\u2019s DNS settings and check the CNAME record. Update it or create a new one using <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/snov.io\/knowledgebase\/how-to-set-up-your-custom-tracking-domain\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">our guide<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to ensure it\u2019s set up correctly.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3><strong>How to add or update CNAME record<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To access the DNS settings, log in to your domain registrar (the provider where you purchased your domain) and find the DNS management section.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Step 1.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Add a new <\/span><b>CNAME<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> record (type: <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CNAME or TXT<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the <\/span><b>Points to <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">or <\/span><b>Value<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> field: add Snovio\u2019s URL: <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">snov-stream.com<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the <\/span><b>Name<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> field, enter \u201ctrack\u201d or the full URL address in the format <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">track.yourdomain.com<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The tracking domain URL shouldn\u2019t contain any extra symbols, like _underscore.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here's an example of how the CNAME record settings should look like:<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-block-image shadow aligncenter wp-image-21572 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/snov.io\/knowledgebase\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/ctd-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1079\" height=\"208\" srcset=\"https:\/\/snov.io\/knowledgebase\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/ctd-1.jpg 1079w, https:\/\/snov.io\/knowledgebase\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/ctd-1-300x58.jpg 300w, https:\/\/snov.io\/knowledgebase\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/ctd-1-1024x197.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/snov.io\/knowledgebase\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/ctd-1-768x148.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1079px) 100vw, 1079px\" \/><\/h2>\n<p><b>Step 2.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Add your tracking domain URL in the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/app.snov.io\/account\/email-account\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">email account settings<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Before adding a tracking domain to Snovio, wait some time until your domain updates. DNS changes may take up to 24-72 hours.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click <\/span><b>Set up<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to start verification. We\u2019ll check that everything works and generate the SSL certificate.
