JB Hi-Fi

JB Hi-Fi was established in 1974 by John Barbuto in East Keilor, Victoria. It began as a single store focused on specialist hi-fi and recorded music at low prices, then the business expanded over time, was sold in 1983, grew to 10 stores by 1999, and was purchased in 2000 with the goal of scaling the model nationally. It was floated on the Australian Stock Exchange in 2003.

The company sells consumer electronics and home entertainment products. Its range includes hi-fi equipment, speakers, televisions, DVD players, VCRs, cameras, car sound, home theatre systems, computers, and portable audio, and it also carries an exclusive range of specialist hi-fi products, while after acquiring the Queensland Clive Anthony chain in 2004, its offering also included white goods, cooking appliances, and air-conditioning.

JB Hi-Fi serves customers through its stores and online channel. Based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, it employs between 5,001 and 10,000 people, and its range also includes CDs, DVDs, games, video game titles, and major studio DVD releases.
