In this article, you'll learn why LinkedIn automation actions may not be performed for some prospects in your list. We'll explain the common reasons for skipped actions and provide guidance on how to resolve them.
→ Common reasons why LinkedIn actions fail
What does it mean when the LinkedIn action is "skipped"?
Some LinkedIn steps in your sequence may show a "Skipped" statistic. You can view this status in the Sequence Overview, near the LinkedIn action steps.
The automation skips a prospect if LinkedIn action cannot be performed for them at the time of execution. The "Skipped" number indicates the number of recipients affected.
Learn: The recipient is "skipped" only if Snov.io couldn't complete the action even after several retries. The sequence will move to the next recipient in line for this action. This keeps the sequence running for other recipients.
Common reasons why LinkedIn actions fail
Here are some common reasons why recipients might be skipped for each of the LinkedIn actions:
Actions in your sequence may be skipped due to an issue with the prospect's LinkedIn profile or your LinkedIn sender account, rather than the automation itself.
View profile action
LinkedIn users can restrict profile visibility to connections or friends of connections. In this case, their profile will have limited access for all other users.
If the prospect's LinkedIn profile is set to private, the automation won't be able to perform this action. This is because your LinkedIn profile is outside their network on LinkedIn and may not have access to view it.
Tip: To expand your network, send connection requests to people from your industry. Learn more about LinkedIn networking in our blog post.
Connection request
There may be a few reasons why it's not possible to send a connection request to prospects.
For example, if a request has already been sent to the prospect and is either still pending or has been declined. Or the prospect is already in your LinkedIn network.
The other reasons include:
- Your LinkedIn account has reached the weekly invitation limit.
Snov.io will notify you on the campaign page when this happens. Once LinkedIn resets your limits (usually on Mondays), manually set the campaign status to Active to resume automation.
- Your account cannot send temporary connection requests due to LinkedIn's restriction.
This often happens when there are many pending requests. You can manage pending connections automatically in your Snov.io account. How to set it up.
- The prospect has limited who can send them connection requests in their privacy settings.
Like post
The sequence cannot perform the Like action if there are no posts in the prospect's LinkedIn feed. Sometimes profiles are not active, or the person doesn't post or repost anything.
This doesn't affect your ability to connect with the prospect or send a message.
LinkedIn Message
You can only send LinkedIn messages to your connections: prospects who are already in your network, or those who have accepted your connection request within the sequence.
The sequence will skip this action for prospects from your list who are not in your network.
Use the Connection request in your sequence before the Message step. The ability to send a message to prospects opens up after they accept your connection request.
After the Connection request, you can add a Condition step (Connected on LinkedIn) to check if the prospect has accepted it.
InMail
Through the InMail action, you can send a message to prospects who haven't yet accepted a connection request.
Your ability to use the InMail action in Snov.io sequences depends on your LinkedIn plan.
If your connected LinkedIn profile uses a free plan, the InMail step in your Snov.io campaign may not work for all recipients.
With a free LinkedIn account, you can send InMail messages to:
LinkedIn members who’ve enabled the Open Profile in their settings (these messages don’t use InMail credits). If a prospect’s profile is closed, the InMail step will not be completed.
To contact any prospect via InMail, you’ll need a Premium LinkedIn subscription with available InMail credits provided by LinkedIn. If you reach your InMail credit limit, the sequence won't be able to perform InMail actions.
To keep your automation running smoothly even if the InMail cannot be completed, add an alternative step for cases where InMail isn't sent.
Sorry about that 😢
How can we improve it?
