This guide explains how to scale sending limits safely and control your total outreach volume. The limit recommendations you'll find in this article are for personalized cold outreach.
Before you start. Connect the mailbox, check its default limit, and start warm-up.
This guide is for accounts that finished warm-up and are about to start outreach. For warm-up settings, see this guide.
Limits for warmed-up accounts
If your account already completed warm-up, you can start campaigns with these recommended limits:
Daily limits per mailbox
Gmail and Outlook accounts (cold outreach)
- 30-40 emails/day account limit
- 10 emails for warm-up
SMTP accounts (automated campaigns to existing subscribers or users)
- 50 emails/day or more, depending on your provider's limit, since deliverability is less critical here
Keep warm-up running during outreach.
Warm-up offsets the negative signals that cold emailing creates, such as low reply rates and spam reports. If you stop it, sender reputation slowly drops.
The total limit for campaign emails and warm-up emails together is 50 per day or less.
Your provider may allow more, but we do not recommend it for cold outreach. Higher volume hurts deliverability and engagement, so add mailboxes instead.
To learn how to control both campaign and warm-up limits, read this guide.
Limits for accounts without warm-up
We recommend waiting to send campaign emails until warm-up finishes.
But if you need to start outreach right away with accounts that are not warmed up yet, use this rule to increase sending volume safely.
Start with 1 cold email for every 4 warm-up emails, and scale up to 4 cold emails for every 1 warm-up email.
Follow the ramp-up pattern. The main rule is to raise your daily volume gradually so you do not hurt deliverability.
Weekly ramp-up schedule
| Period | Campaign limit | Warm-up limit |
|---|---|---|
| In the first week of the campaign | Use the starting limit for your provider (15 emails/day for Gmail or 5 emails/day for Outlook) | 40 warm-up emails/day |
| Each following week | Add 5 emails to the campaign limit | Remove 5 emails from the warm-up limit |
After about 1 month, you'll safely reach the recommended limits per account: 40 campaign emails/day and 10 warm-up emails/day.
Monitor account health and react to any issues
Lower the campaign limit and increase warm-up if:
- Your bounce rate goes above 2% (check your bounce reports regularly)
- Deliverability tests show your emails going to spam
- Your domain health check reports missing or failing DNS records
Reduce campaign volume, keep warm-up running, fix the cause, and raise the limit again in small weekly steps.
Create more sender accounts for rotation
To send more safely, set up your sending infrastructure the right way. Connect your existing accounts or create done-for-you mailboxes for a faster start.
Calculate how many domains and mailboxes you need, depending on how many leads you want to contact per day.
You can scale safely in Snov.io by adding unlimited sender accounts to reach your sending volume goal.
Use mailbox rotation
To increase your total volume, connect more sender accounts (your own or done-for-you) and rotate them in your campaigns. For the steps, read this guide.
Plan around these recommended limits:
- Domains: unlimited
- Mailboxes: up to 5 per domain
Daily sending limit per mailbox
For cold outreach, we recommend a total limit of no more than 50 emails/day per account, split between campaigns and warm-up.
- At the campaign start: 10 campaign emails + 40 warm-up emails
- After 1 month of safe scaling: 40 cold emails + 10 warm-up emails per day
That makes scaling more predictable and much safer for deliverability.
Always keep a backup domain during outreach.
Active domains do the campaign sending, while mailboxes on backup domains are on warm-up until they're ready. This means you always have the warmed-up senders ready when you need them.
Plan your volume, create as many domains and mailboxes as needed, and deploy them gradually after warm-up.
Example setups
Here's what that can look like in practice:
| Setup | Total starting limit | After warm-up |
|---|---|---|
| 1 active domain with 4–5 mailboxes + 1 backup domain | 40–50 campaign emails/day | 160–200 emails/day |
| 2 active domains with 8–10 mailboxes + 1 backup domain | 80–100 campaign emails/day | 320–400 emails/day |
This can scale infinitely in Snov.io. Just keep adding domains and mailboxes as needed.
Sorry about that 😢
How can we improve it?
