How to launch your first LinkedIn outreach campaign

LinkedIn Automation guide, part 1 of 7: Prepare and set up your accounts. Step 1 of 14. Next: Connect your LinkedIn account. See all steps.

This guide walks you through the first steps of a LinkedIn outreach campaign in Snov.io: prepare your profile, connect and warm up your account, build your prospect list, and launch a sequence.

Each step links to a detailed guide, so you can go deeper when you need to.

Snov.io campaigns let you combine email and LinkedIn actions in one sequence to reach prospects through both channels.

Step 1. Prepare your LinkedIn profile

Step 2. Connect and warm up your account

Step 3. Build your prospect list

Step 4. Build and launch your sequence

Step 5. Monitor results and scale

note
Do not skip the safety steps, especially if this is your first time using automated LinkedIn outreach.

Step 1. Prepare your LinkedIn profile

Optimize your LinkedIn profile

Before starting automation, make sure your LinkedIn profile looks complete.

New or empty profiles need extra preparation to avoid blocks or restrictions from LinkedIn. Fill in your profile, add a headline, include relevant experience, and update your About section.

If your account has been inactive for a while, do some manual activity first: publish and comment on posts, and connect with people from your industry.

Profile optimization happens outside Snov.io, but it pays off in your outreach: prospects check your profile before they accept a request, so a complete profile gets more requests accepted. Learn more about how to improve your LinkedIn profile in our blog post.

Check your SSI score

Social Selling Index (SSI) is a LinkedIn score that shows how trustworthy your profile looks to LinkedIn and to the prospects you contact. It decides how many actions one profile can safely run each day. Snov.io shows the SSI of each connected account in your LinkedIn account settings.

Check your score before you launch to see what volume one profile can handle:

SSI score Safe daily limit per action Connection requests per week (5 days)
20 or lower 10 about 50
21–30 15 about 75
31–40 20 about 100
41–50 30 about 150
51–60 40 (maximum recommended) about 200

With an SSI above 20 you can start with a regular starter volume. If your score is 20 or lower, keep to 10 actions per day and work on your profile and LinkedIn activity first. See the full recommendations in this guide, and how to raise your score in the scaling guide.

Step 2. Connect and warm up your account

Connect your LinkedIn account

Snov.io supports LinkedIn accounts of any type: free, Premium, or Sales Navigator.

Automation can work with a basic free account, while Sales Navigator gives you more advanced search filters for finding relevant contacts.

Snov.io adds a location-based proxy to each LinkedIn account you connect. To set up your LinkedIn account safely, follow this guide.

Enable warm-up and set safe limits

Enable warm-up mode so Snov.io increases your daily connection requests gradually. Read this guide to set it up.

Then set your daily limits based on your SSI score. Recommended values are in this guide.

Step 3. Build your prospect list

For LinkedIn outreach to stay safe and effective, your prospects should be relevant to the profile doing the outreach. Sending requests to unrelated contacts can be seen as spamming.

Collect contacts for LinkedIn outreach

Group contacts based on your campaign goal. There are a few tools in Snov.io you can use to collect and segment contact list:

  • My Network: add contacts from your existing LinkedIn connections
  • LinkedIn Prospect Finder extension: find and save contacts directly from pages like company employees or event attendees
  • LinkedIn Search: search for contacts by filters like job title, industry, company size, location, and connection degree.

Add a do-not-contact list

Add a Do-not-contact list to automatically exclude specific contacts from the campaign.

If a contact’s email address, LinkedIn URL or company website matches an entry on the list, they will be removed from the sequence.

This is useful for excluding unsubscribed contacts, existing customers, duplicate outreach, or competitor employees.

Step 4. Build and launch your sequence

Create your sequence in the campaign editor. Start with light engagement, then send the connection request, then message.

  • Build the sequence. Add LinkedIn actions, delays and conditions, and set the campaign schedule. See this guide.
  • Reach high-priority contacts with InMail. Use InMail for contacts who have not accepted your request. See this guide.
  • Personalize your messages. Use variables, Dynamic content and Spintax so no two messages look identical. See this guide.

Step 5. Monitor results and scale

  • Track results. Check acceptance rate, replies and SSI in your LinkedIn statistics.
  • Scale safely. Add accounts and rotation, and raise limits gradually. See this guide.
  • Keep your account healthy. Withdraw requests that stay pending for more than 14 days, see this guide, and manage your connections in My Network.
