There’s no such thing as too many leads. Even if you have a rich network of sales leads on LinkedIn already, we will show you how to get the contact details of your 2nd and 3rd connections on LinkedIn in 3 different (and easy!) ways.
LinkedIn stores this data behind an unnecessary paywall, but the Linkedin Helper extension and Snov.io are here to solve this issue and help you generate more of those precious leads.
Outline:
What are LinkedIn 2nd and 3rd connections
Because LinkedIn is a professional social network, you don’t have friends there, you have professional connections. And your LinkedIn connections can be of three degrees – 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
People in the 1st degree connections are the ones you are, let’s say, friends with. Either you’ve sent them an invitation to connect and they accepted it or you’ve accepted their invitation to connect. You can easily get in touch with them by sending a direct message on LinkedIn. What is more important: you can view their contact details and get their email addresses.
Connections of the 2nd degree on LinkedIn are the people who are in connection with the ones who are in connection with you – a friend of my friend situation. And they can easily become your connections of the 1st degree if you click the Connect button. Unfortunately, until you do that, you can neither communicate with them nor see their contact details. However, if you upgrade your LinkedIn plan, you can message them.
3rd degree connections are the people who are connected to your 2nd connections. The access is the same: no messages and contact information available.
All in all, you can get in touch and get the email addresses of only the 1st degree connections on LinkedIn. So how can you find the LinkedIn contact emails of your 2nd and 3rd connections? This is where Snov.io and Linked Helper come in.
Method 1:
How to get LinkedIn emails of 2nd and 3rd connections with Snov.io LI Prospect Finder
With Snov.io LI Prospect Finder, you can easily get contact details from LinkedIn, regardless of the degree of connection.
Step 1. Create a free Snov.io account and install the Snov.io LI Prospect Finder extension
The first step is to create a Snov.io account and install the LI Prospect Finder extension. When registering, you can sign up using email or with your Gmail account. The extension automatically integrates with your Snov.io account and you can start using Snov.io and LinkedIn to find emails.
Step 2. Perform the LinkedIn search
Go to LinkedIn and enter your search parameters, for example, “SEO specialist”. In the Connections tab, choose 2nd and 3rd+ connections, then select the necessary Locations. Use advanced filters if necessary.
Once you’ve filtered the users, activate the LI Prospect Finder extension by clicking its icon in the toolbar. In the extension, choose the list to add the selected prospects (i.e. contacts) to. You can also create a new list by clicking the ⊕ button next to the list field. Click the Find Emails and Save button.
The extension will now redirect you to the next search step: to protect your LinkedIn account from being blocked, set the search limits: define the number of pages you want to search (if there’s more than one page available) and the pauses between the pages. Snov.io will set these automatically, but you can edit them if necessary. Click the Find Emails and Save button again.
Wait until the extension finishes collecting the prospects and click the Go to list button. This will take you to your Snov.io profile and the list of freshly collected prospects.
Step 3. Manage the list
When the search is over, click the Go to list button. A new tab with your Snov.io account will open where you can sort, filter, and manage the list. The added emails are already verified. After verification, every email address is marked with the respective indicator:
- email not found – white
- valid – green
- uncertain – yellow
- invalid – red
Snov.io doesn’t just collect the contact details – it collects the full prospect profile. If you click the prospect’s name, you will see the profile generated by Snov.io based on the contact’s LinkedIn profile. It will include:
- Locality
- Industry
- Country
- Links to known social networks
- Experience (current and previous)
Method 2:
How to get contact details from a single LinkedIn profile
The method described above allows you to download email addresses from LinkedIn in bulk by collecting multiple profiles from the search page. However, if you need to find emails on an individual profile, Snov.io’s LI Prospect Finder extension can do it in a matter of seconds.
Go to the necessary profile and activate the LI Prospect Finder extension. Select the list to add this contact to or create a new one. Then, click the Find Emails and Save button.
Method 3:
How to find 2nd and 3rd connections’ emails with Linked Helper
And here’s the last of the ways to get the contact details of 2nd- and 3rd-degree connections on LinkedIn. Download the Linked Helper extension and install it according to the instructions provided. Note, the Linked Helper has a free 14-day trial. The price after the trial starts at $15 per month.
The Linked Helper extractor will provide you with a bunch of data, except emails:
- Company’s location
- Dates of the person’s employment at the company
- Company’s LinkedIn profile URL
- Details on the person’s previous places of employment
- Education and degree info
- Mutual connections
- Interests
Because the LinkedIn helper tool works on-page, the workflow is rather time-consuming: it opens every profile, spends some time on the page, scrolls it, and sets time lapses between two profiles so that it looks as if a real person is surfing page after page. The pause between two searches is 45 seconds by default, though you can change it in the Timeout settings tab. Again, these timeouts are meant to prevent your account from being blocked by LinkedIn.
Go to LinkedIn and filter the users by necessary parameters. At the bottom of the browser, activate Linked Helper, open the Profiles Extractor tab (the third one), and click the Extract button. You can stop the process at any moment by clicking the Stop profiles extraction button. Go to the Export tab and click the Download CSV file. All the collected profiles and details will be downloaded as a file.
Open the CSV file and manage the data columns any way you need. That’s all! The list of enriched leads from your LinkedIn 2nd and 3rd connections is ready. If you need to add emails to the list, you can upload it to Snov.io and get the email addresses of prospects using one of the email finder features (Emails From Names or Social URL Search).
What to do next
Whether you choose to use Snov.io LI Prospect Finder or the LinkedIn helper tool, the list of leads in your 2nd and 3rd connections on LinkedIn is enriched and ready to use.
Want to convert them as fast as you can without having to sacrifice precious little time you have? Start a highly-personalized and automated email campaign with the Snov.io cold email outreach tool.
Happy prospecting!
Does this still work? I don’t think it captures Company URL anymore.
You are right, Linked Helper doesn’t capture the company URL anymore. However, the Snov.io Email Finder extension collects this information. Here’s how you can download it: https://snov.io/knowledgebase/how-to-export-emails-from-snovio/
Hope you enjoy it!
i have 900,000 second level connections. but Linked In helper has only collected 1000. How do i get more? Like the full set?
Thank you for your question, Bill. Seems, you’d better ask this question the support team of Linked Helper.
However, our Customer Care team would be glad to help you create a custom plan so that you can get all the details on your 2nd connections.
Any way to synchronize collected profiles to Trello?
Tasha, you can integrate Snov.io with Zapier. And they provide integration with Trello. So you can easily manage your profile the way you need this!
Good luck!
Has there been an update? I remember Snov.io not being able to collect 2nd and 3rd connections.

Thank you for your question, Annette!
In fact, Snov.io Email Finder is not limited to the number of email addresses you can find per day, it all depends on your plan.
As for your first question, our Email Finder extension can get around 2k of emails within one hour. So in a day, you can get up to 50k emails!
Enjoy it!
